By David Ganc. Composed by Folklore. Arranged by David Ganc. This edition: pdf. Folk, Multicultural, World. 30 pages. David Ganc #1142875. Published by David Ganc (A0.1570982).This poignant folk song from the north-east of Brazil was collected in Paraíba by Gazzi de Sá in 1935. It was adapted and harmonised by the great Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos in 1935. I was orchestrated by him in 1942 and used in the third movement (Aria - Cantiga) of Bachiana No. 4. In 1980 it received a version by Milton Nascimento and Wagner Tiso on the disc Sentinela. In my new arrangement, I wrote an interlude in the Xote genre, typical of the region where this popular melody came from.
