This Lively dance was written in 1992, by Jim Stewart and performed by folk musicians. Bully's Hornpipe was a featured number in the 2002 production of the Marco Polo Suite-A Folk Opera where the String Quartet joined with the folk musicians to perform it. This arrangement grew out Chris' string quartet for that performance and is a great way to add professional winds (Piccolo, Clarinet & Bass Clarinet )& talented percussionists to a string orchestra concert. Variety in articulations and playful interactions provide challenges and "fun" for the musicians as they compete with eachother while entertaining their audience.
