Bernard de La Monnoye (1641-1728) fut un avocat, poète, philologue et critique français, connu principalement pour ses Noëls bourguignons. Le plus connu parmi ces noëls est sans doute Guillô, pran to tamborin (Guillaume, prends ton tambourin) plus communément appelé Patapan, que l’on continue toujours mettre en musique et dont le texte fut traduit dans plusieurs langues. La mélodie est dansante et légère ; la musique est virevoltante.
