Published by Dave Nicolette (A0.1598375).In this relatively serious three-movement concert piece for brass quintet (2 trumpets, horn, trombone, tuba), the format varies from the norm in that there is no "slow" movement as such. The first movement begins adagio and accelerates to moderato, never becoming especially fast. The middle movement is marked moderato non troppo, so the tempo isn't slow although the music moves at a relaxed pace. The second movement builds in intensity but does not speed up. The finale is brisk but not frenetic. The duration, at just over 9 minutes, fits nicely into most programs. For what it's worth, I'm pleased with it. I think it comes off well, and without introducing any extremes of technical difficulty, range, or tempo. I hope you'll enjoy it, too.
