Written for Piano four hands in 2021, it is a groove with a continuous pattern of accompaniment, based on two rhythmic motifs from the Puerto Rican Bomba. In the first is the Sicá, which later becomes a Leró, and vice versa.
Overall, it sets out to capture the energy and rhythmic vitality of these motifs in praise of the orisha Ogún; deity in the Yoruba religion.
It is a danceable prayer of precise and intricate rhythmic touches that make up a complex contrapuntal work. The 4 hands, in juxtaposition, alternate from singing voice to accompaniment, thus emulating the technique and effect of the bomba barrels.
The piece lends itself to being choreographed.
