Masterful Orchestration and Ensemble Balance
As a section leader, I'm impressed with Jay Bocook's arrangement of Ravel's Bolero. It's a true 'study in orchestration' for concert band, with intricate part-writing that ensures excellent ensemble balance. The way the intensity builds from quiet opening to explosive finish is perfectly handled across all sections, especially with the well-placed solos. Excellent Teaching Edition of Bolero
This Jay Bocook arrangement of Ravel's Bolero is fantastic for a Grade 4 concert band.
