Bock's Best series is one of the best sacred piano series of all time. How fitting that Fred Bock's keyboard colleagues would pay tribute to Fred by arranging their own favorite hymns in his honor. Featuring such renowned pianists as Mark Hayes, Ovid Young, Jan Sanborn, Kurt Kaiser and Ken Medema - plus nine more - this collection is a great tribute to their friend, Fred, and includes their own special remembrances of him.

Ready Another Volume
I have long wanted to add some perspective to the earlier review of 2008. I see there is now another from 2010. Better, but still IMO only a little less lackluster. This is a fantastic collection for a church pianist looking for a challenge. There is a tendency among reviewers to rate collections that are beyond their abilities as 'meh'. That is unfair, I think. I found the arrangement of Down Ampney completely unplayable at first. And at second. Third. ... But finally, I've got it, and no, you won't get any recognition for all your hard work on this one. Peer acknowledgements maybe, but that's not why we do it. Rejoice, The Lord Is King will bring the house down. But that's not why we do it. I don't play 'every' arrangement in the collection either. I don't play 'every' arrangement in any collection I own. This one is a character builder and technique enhancer and worth every penny. More please.

Good for my collection
I've used pieces from this book quite a few times while playing in church. I feel it's worth the money even though I might only use a handful of the pieces. I go back to them through the years.
