An adventurous arrangement with unusual harmonies and counterpoint gives a lot of color to this great tune by Toots Thielmans. his vocalise treatment. From here he branches into Isotonic exercises, flexibilities, reliability, staccato, a big section on scales and Reiche scales (scale patterns taken from Gottfried Rei che's famous Fanfare) in all keys. Interval studies in which he expands on Arban's models, arpeggios, and descending scale exercises complete this book. Every bit of it is potent, challenging and rewarding.

Not for the weak
I love this tune and jumped at the arrangement. But after two rehearsals we're finding that our medium-advanced group is having second thoughts. The flavor of the arranger's choice of jazz harmonizations coupled with his mixed and shifting meters, and the frequent passing around of melodic material, doesn't seem to make it for us. Sorry, but I recommend you get this only for advanced players with a solid jazz background and a penchant for adventure.
