This is a straight up funky blues tune that I've been playing with for decades in small combos on the sax. Built around a steady, mechanical riff laid out in the guitar and bass, this work features plenty of soli playing throughout the different sections. 18 individual parts are provided as follows:
· Saxophones - Alto 1, Alto 2, Tenor 1, Tenor 2 and Bari Sax
The saxophones and trombones are particularly encouraged to make the most out of the bends, scoops and dips as indicated throughout the work. It’s these elements that will really accentuate the bluesy, but irreverent, style of the piece. The guitar part is integral to creating the gritty groove that underpins the piece and features in many melodic lead lines. An optional tablature version is included to assist your guitarist.
