Bluegrass Camp Meeting is one of hundreds of pieces originating bad'i to the early settlers who populated mountain areas stretching from Pennsylvania to Georgia. They brought with them their folk-songs, ballads and dances from England and Scotland and played them in a style which has remained very much the same for over 200 years. This light instrumental piece probably originated in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. It is a virtuosic tune for fiddlers which is the tradition of bluegrass style.
This arrangement of Bluegrass Camp Meeting is a special novelty number which worlis well in conventional concert programming. It also is very suitable for strolling string groups. Each instrument has melodic interest and rhythmic importance, and all parts are written to create and complement the highly spirited form· of Country and Western Music.
