Folk songs are music that embodies the lives and spirits of our ancestors. Along with the globally renowned "Arirang," "Saeya Saeya Parangsaeya" features a melody familiar to Koreans that transcends the nature of a simple traditional children's song, deeply capturing the emotions of the Korean people. A prominent feature of this piece is its very short and simple melody, with only three notes (Re, Mi, and La) used in the main melody.
I have reinterpreted this unique melody with a modern sensibility, arranging it to incorporate beautiful harmonies and rhythms. The overall structure features a flow that starts with simple melodic patterns and gradually develops into complex rhythms. The piece begins with harmonics techniques that evoke an Oriental mystique, followed by the introduction of elements such as wit, grandeur, and virtuosic variations. The final coda heightens the tension and concludes the piece with witty and decisive note treatment.
