Appropriate for any service in the church year, it is, of course, especially appropriate when the Beatitudes are read or preached. The composer selected two verses and juxtaposed them for the refrain, creating a meaningful alliteration: "Blessed are the poor in spirit. They will know the King of Heaven. Blessed are the pure in heart. They will see their God.".

Lovely!
Our church choir of 20 sang this anthem earlier this year. It has a lovely melody with the sopranos soaring at just the right time in the text. The piano accompaniment is beautiful and manageable for the amateur pianist. It is a gorgeous setting of this popular text. I highly recommend it!
