Commissioned by the Sacramento Symphony to be a contemporary American-sounding alternative to Britten’s guide to the instruments, BILLY AND THE CARNIVAL uses jazzrock-infused symphonic excitement to tell the story of a young boy who discovers musicians coming to his park to play a concert. Within the course of the story, every instrument is introduced by name followed by a characteristic solo. The companion coloring book illustrates the script and is a stand-alone educational tool with games and puzzles. The coloring book may be ordered with your organization’s name printed on the cover and has been used by the Colorado Symphony as handouts for its educational program. Recorded on Bridge Records.
