First performed by the Jeff Coffin Mu'tet, Better Do Your Thing is a fun, funky 2nd line groove for jazz big band. This arrangment features traditional big band instrumentation (5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, and rhythm section) which is an expansion from the Mu'tet instrumentation. Plenty of room is available for solos and the tune uses only one chord throughout. Piece is performable with only Alto 1, Tenor 1, Bari, Trumpet 1, and Trombone 1 with rhythm section. Written in the key of Eb blues; lead trumpet plays up to written B5. Great for high school jazz ensembles looking for a fun jam tune for your performance!
