This organ piece is one of the most moving works for church or concert ever composed. It is deeply spiritual and requires careful attention to achieve the overall effect desired by the composer. It cannot be learned on Saturday night for the following morning. I love this work and have been playing it for almost 40 years for worship preludes, weddings, and yes, for memorial services, too. Rowley was inspired by two lines of writ by the well-known poet, Christina Rossetti: I bring refreshment; I bring calm and ease. You will not regret investing in this piece and learning to perform if over and over.
