Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by David Burndrett. This edition: pdf. Classical. 8 pages. David Burndrett #1387254. Published by David Burndrett (A0.1827338).

This violin choir arrangement is based on a well-known thematic extract from Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, thoughtfully adapted for flexible violin ensemble performance. The arrangement is designed to work both as a standalone violin quartet texture and as an expanded violin choir, making it suitable for mixed-ability groups, school ensembles, workshops, and community string programmes.

The core of the arrangement is written in four main violin parts, which carry the musical substance and ensemble interplay of the extract. To increase accessibility and participation, two additional optional support parts are included. Violin 5 uses only first fingers and open-string notes, while Violin 6 is written entirely with open strings. These optional lines reinforce harmony and rhythm while allowing beginner players to join the performance successfully.

The musical writing keeps the character and forward motion of Beethoven’s original material while presenting it in comfortable ranges and clear rhythmic groupings. Directors can perform the piece with four players or expand to a full violin choir by adding multiple players to each line and including the optional beginner parts as needed.

This flexible format makes the arrangement especially useful for concerts, education settings, ensemble training, and mixed-level rehearsals, while offering a practical way to introduce developing players to great classical repertoire.

More arrangements and original works for violin choir and violin ensemble can be found in my catalogue, suitable for a wide range of ensemble standards.
