The middle section of the head has the soloist (to come), trumpet and the 2 altos, improvising simaultaneously. During the development section, the two altos trade 8s, the 2s over two choruses. The trumpet solos by himself over a rhythm ositinato. The saxes are featured on a substantial soli section before the piece builds to a climax, recapping the main theme. A roaring finish concludes.
