Originally written for Kirby's Mill Elementary School, when a student suggested it would be "cool" if we could play a spng where each family of the band would "battle." The middle section offers a small skirmish between the families. The chaos of the "battle" is enhanced with the tri-tone in the glockenspiel.
Battle of the Band has a driving percussion, a majestic melody line with a darker counter melody. The piece is written for FL, CL, AS, TPT, TBN and PC. Oboe, BC, TS, BS and FH double the main instrumentation.
