Daniels (A0.1299169)."Baroquen Carriage" is a brawny yet delightful Classical / Rock piece for an Intermediate Concert Band that may remind you of classic radio favorites like Classical Gas or MacArthur Park with a perfect overlay of classical and rock elements.
*The Introduction is in 3/4 time and morphs into 4/4 on the eighth measure. However, everyone (except the snare drum) has a whole note while the conductor sets the new tempo.
*It contains a number of rarely used chord progressions and cadences which give it a classical, yet fresh sound.
*There are a number of instances of layers and counter-melodies. The parts ae not difficult, but create the auditory illusion that the piece is a bit more difficult than it is.
This is a great piece for concert or some contests.
