Baroque Cowboy—Guitar Ensemble Arrangement Arranged by Ron Calabrese Level: Beginner to Intermediate Format: 6 Guitar Parts Introduction: “Baroque Cowboy” is a spirited mash-up of two wild west gems — “My Mother’s Old Red Shawl” and “Fischer’s Marsch” — reimagined with a Baroque-style flair. This arrangement blends the charm of traditional cowboy melodies with the elegance of contrapuntal textures, making it a unique and enjoyable piece for ensemble performance. Part Breakdown: Guitar 1: The 1st Guitar Part carries the melody and is written to take advantage of the 10th position. All the fingerings are available in the music for your convenience. Note that the trills can be optionally played. Guitar 2: The 2nd Guitar Part introduces the harmonies but many of the rhythms are similar to the 1st part. Many of the sections are written to be played in the 5th position. Note that the trills can be optionally played. Guitar 3: The 3rd Guitar Part, although similar in rhythm to the 2nd part begins to mix in a Baroque style as well. Guitar 4 & 5: The 4th and 5th Guitar Part provides a solid counterpoint with the melody but begins to meld in some Baroque-like figures. Guitar 6: The 6th Guitar Part is the bass part written in treble clef. Note that the guitar chords are also made available in this part and can be used for a 7th player I arranged Baroque Cowboy to mix the Baroque style with traditional cowboy melodies.
