The title is drawn from many conversations between the composer and John Bowman, director of the Mountainview band. Badinage is defined as a humorous and witty conversation. As the composer recalls this clearly defined many of their conversations. Musically, the work clearly reflects Jim Colonna’s life-long passion and appreciation for the music of Leonard Bernstein.
