Edited by Baroque scholar Judith Schneider, with expert fingering suggestions by Stuttgart Professor Maria Sofianska, this edition of the second volume of Bach's essential masterpiece contains 30 pages of extensive research and insight into Baroque music. Painstakingly compared with the most important autograph and manuscript sources, this comprehensive edition includes thorough analysis of written and improvised ornamentation, a discussion of period keyboard instruments, insight into pedaling, touch, tempo and rhythm issues, as well as a discussion of preludes and fugues. Also included is an outstanding recording from the Naxos Label. Titles: The complete Preludes and Fugues from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Volume II. The comb binding creates a lay-flat book that is perfect for study and performance.

A Scholarly Edition of Bach's WTC Book 2
This, like its WTC Book 1 companion, is a fine volume. The music is well presented and readable, and editorial marks are clearly indicated. The notes and other material (such as alternate passages and explanations of ornaments) are interesting and helpful for understanding the music. The included recordings of the WTC are played skillfully by Jen Jand on two discs. (They're well worth the few extra dollars you spend on this version over the CD-less one!) The spiral-like binding is fairly sturdy and is certainly easier to deal with than a normal book binding. Overall, highly recommended.
