This carol is one of the Christmas season’s most loved! Originally titled "Luther’s Cradle Hymn," "Away in a Manger" was thought to have been penned by the reformer Martin Luther for his own children; however, that claim has never been fully substantiated.


In this arrangement for brass quintet, the memorable melody is simply accompanied by sustained chords. This solemn setting slowly builds to the third stanza, where the lyric passionately pleads, "Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay." Your brass group will enjoy playing this arrangement of a classic Christmas carol!
