Composed by JOHN CARTÉE. This edition: pdf. Children, Contest, Festival, Film/TV, Praise & Worship, Religious. 9 pages. John Cartée #1348769. Published by John Cartée (A0.1788667).

AVE MARIA
is a new, contemporary and cinematic setting of the traditional Latin devotion, written especially for young voices. Composer John Cartée, an L.A.–trained composer whose music has been performed internationally, blends sacred tradition with a modern, evocative sound world that feels sincere, tender, and deeply moving.

Scored for two-part children’s or youth choir using one or more vocal soloists, and with piano/keyboard accompaniment, this setting also features an optional solo instrument (flute - grade 5, or any suitable wind, brass, or string instrument), adding warmth and color without increasing difficulty. The piano/keyboard part (grade 6) is supportive and expressive, enhancing the cinematic atmosphere while remaining very playable and interesting in its own right since the composer is a conert pianist as well as a choral composer/conductor who produced professional choral music for Warner music in London.

At just under three minutes, Ave Maria is quick to prepare and immediately rewarding. The harmony is accessible, with tasteful surprises that keep singers engaged. Exceptional care has been taken with Latin text-setting and prosody, ensuring natural word stress and flowing musical inflection, so the text feels intrinsic to the melody rather than placed on top of it. This is the what makes Ave Maria so natural, enchanting and appealing.

The result is a catchy, lyrical melody that children love to sing, yet with enough emotional depth for concerts, services, competitions and festivals. Because of its cinematic feel, it would make a memorable piece to record professionally or semi-professionally. Its peaceful, reverent character makes it suitable for both sacred and secular contexts, appealing equally to believers and non-believers.

A high-quality demo MP3 is included to clearly demonstrate the work’s expressive and cinematic potential. The purchase contains three files: the full score; solo/multi vocalist part; flautist/instrumentalist part.
