Schubert's famous song "Ave Maria"was composed as
"Ellens dritter Gesang",not a religious music.
The original lyrics of the song are about Ellen pleading with
the Virgin Mary for the safety of his father in the story.
The song begins with "Ave Maria," and the Latin prayer used
in Catholicism later came to be used as the lyrics.
