"In the summer of 2011, Svanholm Singers were invited to go on a concert tour in France. One of the stops was the historic papal seat Avignon, in Provence. We shared the billing with the Swedish organist Hans Hellsten, and when he told us he would like to improvise on a Gregorian "Ave Maria", I wrote a version on the same theme for the choir. In this way, the singers could present the melody Hans Hellsten would then be basing his improvisation on." – Sofia Söderberg.
