Carrie Kraft's approach to this favorite folk song is proof that early-level performances can be simply beautiful. This two-piano, eight-hand arrangement is beautiful in its simplicity, totally in character with the piece itself. With melodies and countermelodies divided among the players, the interest level is kept high. The single-line notation is easy to read, and eliminates page turns. This gentle quartet will please young players, and will also appeal to older and more advanced musicians. As expected with a Carrie Kraft arrangement, it 'works.' A Federation Festivals 2024-2028 selection.

Ash Grove
It does work. It was very difficult for early intermediate students to read in the format given. More experienced players got it and made beautiful music, but were bored quickly. Single staff music is tricky.
