The composition is inspired by the Transylvanian Saxon tradition of the “Waltz of Destiny” (Schicksalswalzer). In this ritual dance, each abrupt shift between march and waltz (and back) requires the dancers to switch partners. This rule symbolizes the unpredictability of fate, the choices life imposes, and the delicate balance between free will and destiny.
