Originally this tune had lyrics but in the current time it is heard mostly as an instrumental bluegrass piece played on fiddle with other acoustic string instruments. My notation puts the emphasis on the mandolin with or without accompaniment. This arrrangement is not recommended for the beginner but with a few scales and basic chords mastered one should be ready to start putting that ability to use. This is a short somewhat fast piece so it should be played a few times or more through to get full enjoyment. If with other instruments each person can take turns playing the melody or improvise on the chord changes.
