This short, single movement composition, lasting just over three minutes, was written especially for the Student String Ensemble, directed by Gary Hodges, at C. C. M. S. Even though it is written in the E Major pentatonic scale, it is able to utilize the C# minor pentatonic scale as well. The various melodies that are woven together evoke unmistakable images of the early American life of Appalachia.
