The 'Coro di Zingari' known in English as the "Anvil Chorus", opens act 2, scene 1 of Giuseppe Verdi's 1853 opera 'Il Trovatore' ('The Troubadour'). It depicts men striking their anvils at dawn and singing the praises of hard work, good wine and women. The piece is also commonly known by its opening words, "Vedi! Le fosche". The arrangement for flexible concert band and optional choir (with English lyrics) is a step lower than the original key, making it more accessible for all, with some simplification in the band parts where necessary.
