This arrangement of the popular Christmas carol opens with a fragmented melody and bell tones in the low brass. The first section follows a more traditional harmonization of the melody with the trumpets providing an ornamental statement of the Gloria. The trombone takes over the melody at the key change, ultimately handing it off to the horn for the final Gloria to bring the piece to a close. The trumpets frequently provide an ornamental harmony that floats above the rest of the ensemble, with trombone adding to this in the final bars of the piece. This arrangement would be an exciting addition to any holiday concert. Accessible and challenging for each member of the ensemble.
