Derek Hasted writes "This wonderfully lyrical piece, popular both as a Concert item and at weddings, moves nicely from “voice and piano” to “oboe and guitar”, and will suit intermediate players.
I’ve set the piece a little higher than the original so that it fits better on the oboe, with almost every note sitting in the oboe’s “Sweet Spot” range.
The guitar part uses familiar shapes and chords, and the bottom string is tuned down to D to create some really deep chords to contrast with the oboe.
Two Sample Pages are included so that purchasers on Sheet Music Plus can see representative parts for each instrument - there is no need to print these.
My arrangement becomes more rhythmic as the piece progresses, and includes the instrumental break before the final chorus. Note that the accompaniment rhythm becomes a little tighter in the choruses, using double dotted notes, because these align better with the syncopated tune. In the verse, single dotted notes are used so that the music flows more smoothly.
