Andromaque Mini-Opera (Baroque Ensemble Full Score) by Jack Curtis Dubowsky Choir - Digital Sheet Music

By Jack Curtis Dubowsky

Chamber opera in 7 scenes. Words (in English) and music by Jack Curtis Dubowsky, based upon Jean Racine’s (1639-1699) tragedy Andromaque (1667). Racine took his characters from Greek and Roman stories and adapted or created new situations for them in accordance with baroque fascination with neo-classicism in literature. Andromaque is a love quadrangle in which all who love die or go insane. Only the prisoner-queen Andromaque, who is incapable of love, survives. Scenes range in difficulty from intermediate to advanced; college / conservatory level. Five roles: Andromaque (Soprano), Hermione (Alto), Oreste (Tenor), Hector (Baritone), Phyrrus (Baritone). Final number for SATB Chorus, which can be handled by the five primary roles. Baroque ensemble version scored for traverso (substitute flute OK), violin, bass viol (with low A string), and harpsichord. Ensemble Parts: SM-17-0010AX. Also Available in Piano/Vocal score SM-17-0010.
