For mixed double choir and solo violin, this five-minute piece is drawn from a larger work for choir and orchestra, Whispers on the Prairie Wind, which was premiered in 2015 with the subtitle Farewell to My Friend.
The lush harmonies underpin one of Ešenvalds' most lyrical melodies. The text is an English translation of a verse by Bay Yuyi (772-846), a Tang Dynasty poet.
