Program Note
Smeda is an octopus who was born near Liverpool, England, but later found a loving home in Virginia. In her spirited teenage years she chose to follow her dreams and ran away with a traveling circus. Her adventures carried her across the world—to Ireland, France, Egypt, Argentina, and many other wondrous places. In time, she returned home again, but she will always treasure the journeys that shaped her along the way.
