Commissioned by and for the City of Glendale Summer Band, Glendale, Arizona in honor of its fiftieth-year celebrations and founder, E.Lowell Rogers; former conductor, John C. Feris and current conductor, Ken Jaeger. The band was formed in 1966 with just a few members and has grown to over 250 that participate each year in a summer of music in the amphitheater in downtown Glendale every June and July. This piece includes: The bold opening fanfare that can be played alone, ending on beat one of m. 12. A polka section using the tune Westward Ho. A calm middle section "Desert Twilight." A dynamic celebration bringing the piece to a resounding climax. Performance Time: 5:40.
