Justin Holland (1819-1887) was the first African American classical guitar composer/arranger whose works were published and disseminated extensively throughout America during the Civil War and Reconstruction. His only known completely original work is a miniature masterpiece called "An Andante" which is reminiscent of Sor, Aguado & Carcassi etudes w/ quick shifts, punctuated antiphony demanding precise left/right hand control, & snappy Lombard rhythms. This piece makes a great daily study for the developing guitarist and is essential for every student's repertoire. This edition includes a standard notation and a tablature version both with chord diagrams, position markers, suggested right & left hand fingering throughout, an illustrated cover, and glossaries of symbols. 8 pages.
