"This refreshing work reflects Chiarappa's teaching experience and unerring feeling for the abilities of advancing string players. It is a delightful ABA work, with dramatic outer sections contrasting with the more lyrical middle. Entirely in D minor, violins play mostly in first position, with a few well-prepared shifts to third. Basses vary the ensemble's timbre and texture by doubling cellos arco, mirroring them pizzicato, or dropping out altogether. This is an excellent addition to any orchestra's repertoire.".
