This edition: pdf, streaming. 19th Century, 20th Century, Multicultural, Pop, Singer/Songwriter, World. Score. 2 pages. Guido Menestrina #1220971.
A so-called "rispetto" from Tuscany for voice and piano, by Alfredo Bombassei, a military from the turn of the 189th to 20th century, father of a well-known diplomatic politician in the first years of the European Union.
The song was probably published between 1915 and 1925.
It goes like this:
Last Sunday, during the mass, the preacher
started heavily criticizing love:
all taken away by his holy zeal,
he said the kissing was sinful.
That's when you blushed,
while I shook my head and smiled...
After the mass we met again, and without any fear...
we kissed each other.
Your mother, too, once told you
to keep your eyes open and stay alert
because young men buzz around
inexperienced harmless being,
She told you that giving kisses leads to hell
and that love makes you foolish.
But what you say is that if I kiss your beautiful face
our kisses lead directly to paradise.
