The book I would have written
Speaking as a teacher for 30 years, this book is exactly the way I teach! In fact, I think Dennis Taylor must have been listening to some of the pearls I impart to my students (or maybe I overheard him), because we say exactly the same thing. There is no question that your soloing will improve with the application of the concepts in this book! Good for intermediate and advanced players, and worth far more than the price of the book.

Tons of good stuff..
You can keep this book on the shelf and take it down every week or two and get another gem. I've pretty much adapted the warmup exercises I daily from the first 7 ways - the emphasis on ear training and commiting basics to memory, as well as 12-key transposition, are really priceless - I have other jazz etude and practice books, but the simplicity and concise to the point explanations are better than most books, Also, more advanced jazz concepts (tritone subs, altered scales, sideslipping etc.) are there when you get to the point where they make sense. Besides the play-a-long is decent - really an unbelivable value for the price.
