Nino Rota (1911-1979) began composing at just eight years of age. His meeting with the film director Federico Fellini was a turning point in his career and the pair went on to work together for a number of years. Rota wrote the music for several Fellini films, including: The Road, La Dolce Vita, 8 1/2, The Godfather and Amarcord. Although best known for film scoring, Nino Rota also composed for both theatre and ballet.
