This Alleluia, composed by Grisanti written for the 2025 Mass in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, is a beautifully simple piece, easy for the assembly to follow and faithful to the traditional triple form of the Alleluia. Its threefold repetition evokes the mystery of the Holy Trinity and recalls the ancient Paschal proclamation, where the joy of the Resurrection bursts forth in a thrice-sung “Alleluia.” The word Alleluia itself comes from the Hebrew “Hallelu-Yah,” meaning “Praise the Lord.” Rooted in the psalms of ancient Israel, it was adopted early by the Christian Church as a cry of joy, a pure expression of worship that transcends language and time. In the liturgy, the Alleluia precedes the proclamation of the Gospel an invitation for hearts to be opened to the Word of God, echoing the eternal praise sung before the throne of Heaven.
