Alla Turca is a well-known masterpiece needing no introduction. The original is the 3rd movement of Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 11 in A Major K.331 composed in 1783. The sonata itself is not a very difficult work, so it is popular repertoire for intermediate piano students.
The third movement didn't have a special subtitle, but "Alla Turca" is indicated as a stylistic marking. "Alla Turca" incorporates the rhythm and accent of a Turkish military band march, which was popular in Europe at that time. When only the third movement is treated as an independent piece, it is often referred to as the "Alla Turca (Turkish March)".

This arrangement for clarinet octet was written in 1980 for the Tokyo Clarinet Ensemble. When publishing, I made a few changes. The outline is almost the same as the first edition. Considering the function of the clarinet, it is transposed to F minor (the original key is A minor). (Kazuhiro Morita).
