"All Star" is Smash Mouth's irresistibly catchy pop-rock anthem from their 1999 album Astro Lounge, featuring one of the most instantly recognizable guitar and organ hooks of the late 90s. "All Star" is a great choice for beginner to intermediate bands looking to build confidence with a song that is accessible, high-energy, and guaranteed to get a crowd involved. The guitar work is straightforward and driving, built around simple power chords and a punchy rhythmic feel, making it an ideal platform for developing tight rhythm playing and band cohesion. The bass line is steady and supportive, offering a solid foundation for bassists working on locking in with the kick drum and maintaining consistent groove throughout. For singers, "All Star" is deceptively fun — the conversational, speak-sing delivery and quick syllabic phrasing demand good rhythmic precision and the ability to project personality and swagger without oversinging. The song's massive cultural footprint and universal crowd recognition make it a foolproof set highlight that reminds every musician why playing live is so much fun in the first place.

A NOTE ABOUT DR. TOMS CHARTS
DR. TOMS CHARTS help musicians make more music together. Inspired by the Nashville Number System and the classic Rise Up Singing, these charts emphasize song form with lyrics overlaid on top of evenly spaced chords. These musical roadmaps let you focus on what you love: vocal delivery, groove, harmonies, feel, and more! You can even experiment with different styles and meters.

In the HYBRID chart, the first chord of each line aligns with the first word or syllable on the downbeat, highlighting pickups and delayed entries. Subsequent chords may not align exactly with every word, but once the singer nails the entry, everything locks in! This format might look unfamiliar at first, but evenly spaced chords improve groove and accuracy. The harmonic rhythm guides the melody! For singers, the LYRICS ONLY chart provides all the words with rehearsal cues (intros, verses, bridges, solos).

Keep on jammin!
