Inspired by Post Modern Jukebox’s Upright-Bass-Solo cover of the pop song “All About that Bass”, we decided to turn the BlechMafia version into a tuba solo.
We mixed tuba excerpts from orchestral and film literature, such as the Dragon-Solo from Wagner’s Ring Cycle and the Imperial March from Star Wars, into Meghan Trainor’s original.
As rehearsals progressed we decided to add more orchestral excerpts into other instruments as well. Thus the Siegfried Call from Wagner’s Ring Cycle interrupts the Imperial March and a theme from Humperdinck’s Hänsel and Gretel was added to the trumpet part.
Rehearsing this piece was quite a challenge - we could barely get to the end without laughing!
The result is definitely worth listening too and sure to be a hit in any concert!
