Alfreds Basic Jazz/Rock Course Improv level 2
I bought this book not knowing what to expect. I bought it mainly for students. This book is very basic in its rhythms and improv. It has allot of short example songs with many accidentals in them. The selections are very bland. I didn't see anything is this book that would be considered Rock or Rock styles. Even though some say they are. You would have to add allot to the examples to make it Rock style. I feel they are more geared toward Blues boogie Jazz styles and that is very basic in this book.Far as improv, they go through dynamics and playing rhythms different ways. Shifting melodies up or down octaves. Nothing real fancy far as improv at this level.Good book for the early intermediate student. Allot of good examples for students to learn allot of accidentals in songs and basic rhythms. Good practice songs for both hands. Songs are mainly in the key of C and G.pianomanDT
