Air from Orchestral Suite No.3 in D Major, commonly known as Air on the G String, is one of the best known and most popular pieces of classical music in the world and one of the most frequently requested to be played at weddings. It is not surprising then that there are many versions of this music available. However, this arrangement for solo piano or electronic keyboard by professional pianist Mark Reeves has been transcribed from J.S. Bach's original score (a copy of which is included in this digital download for reference purposes), thereby making this piano transcription one of the most accurate and faithful to the composer's original work. Careful and subtle use of the sustain pedal will enable the pianist to achieve a smooth melodic line without blurring the harmony and counter-melodies, whilst retaining a semi-detached bassline in keeping with the playing style of the period.
