Beginning in a stylistically classical manner, the piece gradually and almost imperceptibly morphs into a jazz arrangement, before returning to its classical origins — much like one of M. C. Escher’s impossible images, where one world seamlessly turns into another.
This SATB version is based on the original TTBB arrangement, first recorded by the vocal quartet Maybebop on their album Extrem nah dran, and is aimed at advanced choirs seeking a refined and unconventional reinterpretation of a timeless masterpiece.
