Ain't No Mountain High Enough arranged for String Quartet by Rebecca Willson.
I know there's already lots of arrangements of Ain't No Mountain for String Quartet but after transcribing the bass part for a pantomime band, I didn't like the simplified version that I used to play with my quartet.
This arrangement follows the structure of the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell version but I have included the famous fast chorus from the Diana Ross version at the end.
It starts with the melody on the viola for the first verse before Violin 1 takes over at the chorus. After the bridge, Violin 2 takes the lead whilst the violin soars high on the original violin/synth line. The cello stays on the syncopated bass line throughout. I have needed to make adaptations occasionally to change octaves.
I've been writing arrangements for over 10 years for my own string quartet and will be gradually making them available online. If you'd like me to upload any revisions. e.g. string trio or with the tune all in one part, get in touch and let me know.
